Russian captions in short

Crayo transcribes Russian speech and adds animated captions to short clips from podcasts, streams and interviews. It is for Russian-speaking podcasters, streamers and clippers across Russia, Central Asia, the Baltics, Israel and the wider diaspora who post to YouTube Shorts, TikTok and Instagram Reels.

Russian-language YouTube is one of the largest in the world, with interview channels, podcasts and streamers recording hours of talk that clip channels cut daily. YouTube Shorts and Telegram are where many of those clips travel, with TikTok and Instagram Reels strong among the diaspora in Germany, Israel, the Baltics and the United States, and Russian captions make a clip readable across all of those markets.

Russian is written in Cyrillic, with the letter ё usually written as е in everyday text and the soft and hard signs changing pronunciation without a sound of their own. Transcription handles standard Russian well; the lines to check are names, internet slang and English loanwords that speakers pronounce with Russian endings. Crayo transcribes the speech as Russian when selected.

A practical tip: Cyrillic words are slightly wider than Latin ones, so two to three words per caption keeps the text large, and a caption style with a strong highlight on the active word helps viewers follow fast interview crosstalk. Preview the style on the clip to see how its font handles Cyrillic before exporting.
