Arabic captions in short

Crayo transcribes Arabic speech and adds animated captions to short clips cut from podcasts, streams and interviews. It is made for clippers serving Gulf, Egyptian and Maghreb audiences on TikTok, Reels, Shorts and Snapchat.

Arabic is one of the largest short-form audiences in the world. Saudi Arabia and Egypt drive huge TikTok and Snapchat watch time, the Gulf is a major YouTube Shorts market, and Arabic podcast networks and streamer communities produce hours of long-form talk every week that clippers turn into vertical cuts.

Arabic is written right to left in a cursive script where letters change shape depending on their position, and most text is written without the short vowel marks. Dialects also differ a lot: Egyptian, Levantine, Gulf and Maghrebi speech are all transcribed as Arabic, but spellings of dialect words vary, so check the caption list for words you would write differently. Crayo does not add vowel marks, which is how most on-screen Arabic reads anyway.

A practical tip for Arabic clips: preview the caption style on the actual clip before you export, since the right-to-left script and the cursive joins look different from style to style, and keep each caption to a few words so the text stays large and the letter forms stay clear on a phone screen.
