Norwegian captions in short

Crayo transcribes Norwegian speech and adds animated captions to short clips from podcasts, streams and interviews. It is for Norwegian podcasters, streamers and clippers who post captioned vertical clips to TikTok, Instagram Reels and YouTube Shorts.

Norway is one of the most podcast-dense countries in the world per capita, with comedy, interview and true crime shows recording long episodes, and Norwegian streamers have a committed Twitch following. Short clips land on TikTok and Instagram Reels, and Swedish and Danish viewers follow along because the written languages are close enough to read.

Norwegian is written in the Latin alphabet with æ, ø and å, and it has two written standards, Bokmål and Nynorsk, plus strong regional dialects that differ a lot from either. Transcription returns Bokmål-style spelling for most speech, so Nynorsk users and dialect speakers may want to adjust lines in the caption list. Crayo transcribes the speech as Norwegian when selected.

A practical tip: dialect-heavy speech from Bergen or the north can produce more edits than Oslo speech, so skim the first minute of captions before cutting the whole episode. A caption style showing two to four words at a time keeps Norwegian readable and keeps æ, ø and å distinct on a phone.
