Belarusian captions in short

Crayo transcribes Belarusian speech and adds animated captions to short clips from podcasts, interviews and streams. It is for Belarusian-language creators and media teams, at home or abroad, who post to TikTok, YouTube Shorts and Instagram.

Belarusian-language media has grown mostly outside Belarus, with newsrooms, podcasts and YouTube channels run from Warsaw and Vilnius. Their audiences follow on YouTube and Telegram first, and short captioned clips on TikTok and Shorts are how the longer interviews reach people who would never sit through a full episode.

Belarusian is written in Cyrillic with a few letters you will not see in Russian, such as ў and і, and speech frequently mixes Belarusian with Russian. Crayo transcribes what it hears as Belarusian, so a guest switching into Russian can produce lines you want to tidy in the caption list. The language also uses an apostrophe inside words, which transcription normally keeps.

A practical tip: choose Belarusian explicitly in the language picker rather than leaving it on auto detect, because Belarusian and Russian are close enough that mixed recordings can be detected as Russian. Then skim the first minute of captions to confirm the spellings look right before clipping the rest.
